This week’s episode, June 22, 2012 – Top Three Albums That Changed Our Lives.
We’ve decided to do something a little different this week. Rather than talk about a very controversial topic in the music business that has reared it’s ugly head again this week, we’ve chosen to jump the shark and just chat about some of the albums that shaped us into the people who we are today.
Join myself and Brian Thompson for a 45 min. casual no-bullshit discussion on the Top 3 Albums that have changed each of our lives.
And for something completely different and unique to this blog, I’ve included the full album streams on Rdio of each album we talk about.
Brian Thompson’s Top 3 Life Changing Albums
As you’ll notice… he personally couldn’t find it possible to just choose 3 albums. So instead, he listed two albums that he considers tied for each position, along with a few honorable mentions.
#1) Sex Pistols – Never Mind The Bollocks
tied with: Dead Kennedy’s – Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
#2) Motley Crue – Shout At The Devil
tied with: Def Leppard – Pyromania
#3) Metallica – Ride The Lightening (album stream not available on Rdio)
tied with: Slayer – Reign In Blood
Brian’s Honourable Mentions
- Led Zeppelin
- Pink Floyd
- The Beatles
… and of course: Art Of Dying (the 2006 self-titled debut album on Thorny Bleeder Records)
Michael Brandvold’s Top 3 Life Changing Albums
#1) KISS – Rock N Roll Over
#2) Cheap Trick – Live at Budokan
#3) Angels and Airwaves – We Don’t Need a Whisper
Michael’s Honourable Mention:
Sweet – Desolation Boulevard
Featured Track Of The Week: Broken Fences.
We’re stoked to announce our brand new Featured Track Of The Week, as selected from the submissions we received on the opportunity we created on our Music XRay account. If you want to submit your song to be featured, create a profile on Music Xray and send it to us here.
This week’s Featured Song of the Week is Simplicity by Broken Fences. Broken Fences is Morgan Erina & Guy Russo, who began writing and performing together in 2010 and have developed a sound that suggests a meeting between Bon Iver and Simon & Garfunkel. They’ve taken their two vastly different worldviews (She’s from NYC, he’s from Pittsburgh, PA), and melded them into an honest and powerful style of indie-folk, one that’s as current as it is timeless.
Find them online at www.brokenfencesband.com.
