Rdio has just taken an new approach to customer acquistion in the digital music space, Rdio has just launched the Artist Program, a new feature that pays artists for bringing in new subscribers. Rdio is offering a $10 finder fee for every new paid subscriber that artists bring onto their platform. This concept of affiliate marketing is nothing new, it has existed for years in the adult space. How will Spotify respond? Will artists make more money through fans joining than they do through music streaming?
