But trying something new is what it is all about.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Musician MC Hammer, who is no stranger to <a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2009\/07\/08\/twitter-musicians\/\">social media<\/a> for self-promotional purposes, has turned to popular social newsreading app <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mashable.com\/tag\/flipboard\">Flipboard<\/a> to release his latest single on the iPad.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, and he\u2019ll be on <em>Oprah<\/em> at 3 p.m. PT to announce it, the same time the song, \u201cSee Her Face,\u201d goes live on the <a href=\"http:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/flipboard\/id358801284?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\">app<\/a> [iTunes link].<\/p>\n<p>Unusual, no?<\/p>\n<p>It gets stranger. According to a spokesperson for Flipboard, well-known venture capitalist Ron Conway of SV Angel is responsible for bringing it about. \u201cMC Hammer has been involved in Internet projects for years and via our mutual friend Ron Conway he found out about Flipboard,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was excited about how Flipboard brought his Twitter stream to life.
