Very insightful Podcast, thanks a lot!
It always feels great to be reminded that you’re on the right track.
About Bon Jovi and Co…I mean that generation of musicians who made it with the Major label system where artificially elevated to the status of Gods and many believed it! The whole vibe was about inflating egos back then, creating an illusion both for the artist and the fans. The ones that made it through the filter were not necessarily better than others, they just got lucky and then started believing they were something special because they were told and re-told. I’m not saying they didn’t work hard at it or weren’t deserving. I’m just saying for every hard working band and talent their was just not enough room for all of them to shine, dices had to be tossed.
So it is obvious that for a King to see is castle burn down to ashes and to look around and see that the little people are now building castles around them creates an awkward feeling inside which in my opinion could resemble something like…”After all, I’m no big shit”. And that can have serious repercussions on your psyche and make you say things in a desperate attempt to hold on to what you were once convinced you were but now doubt. Can’t blame Jon, Gene and Stevie they’re just a little lost right now without their Kingdom. Ok, maybe not Gene 😉
