I thought I would take a moment to update everyone on the many speaking engagements I have coming up this month.
July 12 – Building Business through Social Media
San Francisco, CA
I am speaking from 12noon – 12:45pm: topic is “Using Online Contests to Boost Social Media Results”
For more information.
So you have 1000 friends on Facebook: what good are they? You’re LinkedIn with more people than inhabit a mid-size town: has it brought you business? Your YouTube videos are “liked” and generate laudatory comments: so what. If a tweet falls in a forest of Twitter fatigue, does it make a sound? Does it influence anyone. And hey — who are these influencers anyway? What is your personal currency, and what is it worth?
In short: are you making money with your social media applications? Would you like to learn how? According to Nielsen “three of the world’s most popular brands online are social-media related (Facebook, YouTube and Wikipedia) and the world now spends over 110 billion minutes on social networks and blog sites. This equates to 22 percent of all time online or one in every four and half minutes. For the first time ever, social network or blog sites are visited by three quarters of global consumers who go online, after the numbers of people visiting these sites increased by 24% over last year. The average visitor spends 66% more time on these sites than a year ago, almost 6 hours in April 2010 versus 3 hours, 31 minutes last year.”
That’s quite a market for your business, product, service or nonprofit. Did you know that 1 in 4 Americans is now on Facebook. Globally, Facebook has 600 million members. If it were its own country, its population would only exceeded by India and China. Speaking of China — now the world’s second largest economy – how does social networking work in the country that is home to one quarter of the earth’s population?
The answers to these and more can be found at the next session of David Perry’s popular New Media Made Easy – – Building Business through Social Media.
