I am pleased to announce that I will be moderating the upcoming NARIP Music Supervisor Session with Todd Porter on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the SAE Institute of Technology in San Francisco.
Representing the best and brightest in music supervision, Todd Porter, of Goodby, Silverstein and Partners, selects and places music for global advertising campaigns for the world’s most recognizable brands, and now casts musical talent for these campaign as well. In NARIP’s intimate sessions, you get to meet and pitch Todd for current opportunities.
NARIP members have made placements through these limited enrollment sessions, including most recently Peter Kimmel who placed a song from his catalog (“Soul of a Man Never Dies”) in an episode of True Blood following our session with Gary Calamar earlier this year in Los Angeles. He has also placed a song in Dexter (“Jhaira”) which airs on October 23, 2011 in the US. You can read more about this here.
These sessions should be of particular interest to those who represent catalogs and/or seek intimate pitch opportunities with the best (and busiest) music supervisors in Los Angeles.
Limited to 15 people, NARIP’s sessions enable you to get to know the supervisors and more importantly, enable them to get to know you. At private sessions in Los Angeles, Berlin, San Francisco and New York, participants have been able to pitch for current opportunities on the spot, receive instant feedback as to whether a song was appropriate or not, and WHY. This valuable feedback makes better pitches – and ultimately, placements – possible. In some cases, participants even had time to re-work their music to better fit a supervisors’ needs.

Todd Porter has been working at Ad agency Goodby, Silverstein and Partners for the past ten+ years. He’s placed many of his favorite artists in commercials and produced a few campaigns for the Superbowl. Recently he’s worked on projects with Lou Reed, Iron & Wine and Radical Face (he’s proud of this). Todd became Goodby, Silverstein & Partners first ever music supervisor + producer two years ago and is very, very busy. He hopes he can help bands make a living by giving them infusions of cash from multinational conglomerates.
