KISS Otaku Interview with Chris Lendt, Author KISS and Sell – Part 1 – 40 Minutes
Good interview-Thanks,but the problem with Creatures was a pop album like Unmasked damn near killed the band.Would love to hear the other 4 parts.
Creatures was by no stretch a pop album. It was truly a heavy and awesome project in KISStory. Eric Carr proved what a massive drummer he was and the band was firing on all cylinders in regards to musicianship and total performance.
This was a great interview. Chris mentioned something that I have always expressed as a major reason why I thought the 80’s was an exciting time for KISS musically. Each album sounded different from the previous. They were a band that went out of the way to downplay any “seriousness” to their music but I think they displayed serious chops. It is really too bad that people outside of us fans that kept loyal to them didn’t realize what they were missing.
Of course, I understand if you feel in love with the original four, perhaps the changes were just too much. My initial interest in KISS came when a song came on radio so I had no initial attachment to the band visually or image-wise. So, for me, it was quite an interesting musical trip. Oddly enough, I found the reunion to be an understandable move financially/nostalgically but it really disappointed me on the music front as I felt the Revenge-era band was just too hot musically.
Chris’ book was an interesting read and I have to say that I do believe his take on things. I did not get the impression that he was lying or embellishing. Though we will never k now otherwise, I have to say it was an awesome glimpse into the workings of a band in a twilight of fame moment, survival mode and on the cusp of a momentous return. This interview definitely added to it.
I agree in that I would love to hear the other parts of the interview.

Hi man! I love this book by Mr. Lendt. I find myself opening up the book and re-reading different parts over and over again. He is intelligent and the book is informative. Thanks for the audio! I enjoyed it. Seth Marsh Springfield,Ill.
