33. Kiss Takes Off The Makeup
When: September 18th, 1983
The band figured it was time to change their look by the time they were approaching irrelevancy in the early ’80s, but they figured wrong and things were never the same again. The gimmicky move was somewhat successful in launching KISS back into the public eye, but album and ticket sales never improved much. Times were changing, and the band’s constant lineup changes, dated sound, and newfound less-than-flattering looks ultimately stalled their career (at least until the wave of KISS nostalgia in the ’90s.)

How??Kiss has lasted for nearly 40 years,yes some career moves have not been as good as others,but the band has continued all these years always averaging above 5000 attendees a night.Very few have had the staying power or impact that this band has had.How many bands have come and gone in the last 40 years never to be heard from again??
