My DynamiteA friend recommends a new band to me that I have never heard, I trust his opinion so I search out the band and find their Facebook page… my first question, what style are they. I click About on their page and this returns:

My Dynamite is more than just another RocknRoll band. My Dynamite is akin to a monolithic orb of white light and electric energy. A congregation of highly tuned frequencies that weave and dance across your inner mind. A living temple of radiant power. A vehicle, for the Shining Ones to manifest into your astral plane, to uplift and rid you of burden and sorrow, and ultimately make you wanna shake your ass!

Does anyone reading this have any idea what that just said and more importantly, what this band, My Dynamite, sounds like? I asked my Music Biz Weekly podcast co-host Brian Thompson and he guessed Tool. I sure don’t have a clue to what they sound like.

The point… make sure your About/Bio page has some direct and to the point copy that would tell a potential new fan what you sound like, who you are influenced. You have only seconds to grab them before they just surf by on to something else.  It only takes one sentence. And it should have to be said, but you MUST have a About/Bio page. If you don’t have one stop everything right now and write something. Where you are from, what you listen to, who you are influenced by, how would you describe your music to a friend who has never heard you are all good things to include in your Bio.

By the way My Dynamite sounds like The Black Crowes. Check it out, pretty good.
