Lets take a real short survey, leave your reply in the comments. Here are two videos of two bands, both ironically named Queensryche, that show you what not to do and what to do when a fan has a camera phone at a concert.
In the first video Geoff Tate, recently fired from Queensryche, but fronting a band of the same name can be seen reaching into the audience and taking the camera phone right out of a fan’s hand. He then throws the phone into the audience.
In the second video you can see Todd la Torre the new lead singer of the Queensryche that fired Geoff take the phone from a fan and for the next 30 seconds walk around the stage while singing and filming the band performing and then hand the phone back to the fan.
You be the judge now. Which fan do you want FAN A or FAN B?
FAN A:
1. Telling his friends how terrible the lead singer is of Queensryche.
2. Who stops supporting Queensryche.
or
FAN B:
1. Telling his friends how cool the lead singer is of Queensryche.
2. Becoming a even supporter of Queensryche.
Which fan do you think is going to support the band after their camera phone experience?
Even if Geoff had a legit reason to reach into the audience have security do it, let them take the heat. Geoff accomplished nothing good by doing this, he looks like he doesn’t like his fans. And the other Queensryche, the one that fired Geoff, well they look like they really love their fans. We all know that your fans are the most important thing in your career. Don’t do anything to destroy the relationship with your fans.
