Today I came across a brand new video app called Viddy. I was introduced to it via a press release I received. What interests, and excites, me about Viddy is that it is almost identical in function to Instagram, but it is for video.
I have joined Viddy and would love it if you would add me as a friend if you are using Viddy. My username on Viddy is michaelsb.
Here is the first video I posted. Some very quick observations:
Video can only be max 15 seconds long.
You can apply a number of interesting FX/filters to the video.
Easy and fast sharing to Facebook and Twitter.
My YouTube share did not work, credentials need to be re=entered. Could be my error.
I want to start playing with Viddy to see how easy it is and what you can do with it. I would love to hear how you are using it.
Here are some of the points in the press release.
What’s new in music + app trends?
MySpace, YouTube, Facebook pages and Twitter feeds have all become useful as promotion and fan engagement tools. Up next on the horizon is Mobile video – the new Viddy iPhone app provides immediate video editing and sharing of 15-second video clips (perfect for a verse, a behind-the-scenes moment, or describing a song’s meaning) with social audiences in a simple point, click, shoot, edit, upload format.
The first band to do so, Incubus is promoting their first new album and tour in 5 years, “If Not Now, When” with Viddy’s (http://viddy.co) custom production pack, where fans can record a video using a custom created Incubus filter, which includes video effects + a soundtrack set to a sample of their new single “Adolescents.” Fans (or the artist themselves) can share these Viddy clips immediately, uploading from their iPhone. Incubus will use these fan-created Viddy clips in their live tour documentary (IncubusHQLive), making fans (whether at a concert, or using the app anywhere in the world) a really integrated part of the experience. Additionally, Panic! At the Disco is using Viddy to crowdsource concert shots for their next music video: http://www.panicatthedisco.com/news/ccfeed-want-to-film-our-next-video/.
Fans can connect with Incubus using Viddy before, during or between worldwide concert dates through the summer and fall.
