This week we welcome Blasko back to The Music Biz Weekly podcast to discuss Live Nation’s settlement with the DOJ and more!

Episode 668: This week we welcome Blasko back to The Music Biz Weekly podcast. We start by discussing that part of Live Nation’s settlement with the DOJ seems to indicate that artists can request data of their fans who purchase tickets. Yes this would be HUGE news IF that is what happens. But, we discuss and ask questions about how this might work out and even if it is possible. This discussion leads to a great back and forth about artists owning their fan data, not “renting” it from all the social networks that you use daily. Example… all those Likes on your Facebook Page are not yours. You don’t know who those fans are, you will never have access to their names and emails. Facebook owns it and won’t let you take and use that data.
