Don't Put Any Hurdles In The Way of Making a SaleIs this a ad from the back of Metal Edge in 1987?

I recently came across the ad below on Facebook, I will leave out the musician and their contact info, advertising to their followers the release of some guitar picks, a great merchandise item. If you are old enough to remember, back in the 80s there was a magazine called Metal Edge… it was the go to source for anything related to hard rock. It also had ads in the back that read exactly like this… send a postal or bank money order for some piece of merchandise or to join a fan club.

Well this is not the 80s. If you are going to promote some merchandise for sale online, do it right or don’t do it. How many people on Facebook even know what a postal or bank money order is? It takes all of a couple minutes to setup a PayPal account, that is what people online understand for payments, not money orders. If you are in the process of setting up your online store and payments just wait until it is ready before launching. Don’t rush things out, do it right so you can capture sales immediately on interest by your fans. A money order is a big hurdle to purchase. You have to leave your house, drive to a post office or a bank, have a money order issued, drive home, insert into a envelope, put a stamp on that envelope, then mail it. All hurdles to buy. Way too many opportunities for someone to say, no I don’t want this or I will do this later and you lose the sale. Use technology to help you make the sale. Make it is as easy and painless to click BUY. No hurdles to the purchase.

Collectors Guitar Picks are finally available in the band name of your choice for $30.00 ea. Or, a Collectors Pak of four different band picks for $100.00. Payment should be made in the form of a Postal or Bank Money Order. If sending a check, it must clear first, before merchandise can be sent.Pick sales arrangements:

According to my management The Marketing program for the picks will go for $30.00 each, or a special discount of $100.00 for a Four-Pak of one band each. I try to stay out of management’s way on these matters. Right now we don’t yet have a Paypal account set up, but we can accept a Postal or Bank M.O. or check, plus (S&H). Once it clears then we can send them out. They are $30.00 each or a set of 4 (1 of each band), at a discount of $100.00 a 4-Pak set. Considering just ONE of my picks went for $239.99 on eBay, comparatively-speaking, that’s a real bargain.
